(Q) After having used the free version of ScreenHunter without any problems for a few weeks, it has suddenly stopped working. Now, instead of getting a screen shot which I can dump into a document file, ScreenHunter is just giving me a black box like the one below. (an all black screen) I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it makes no difference. What can I do to solve the problem?

(Q) No I was - on this occasion - capturing the ScreenHunter 'About' window. But I get the same result regardless of what it is I capture (all screen images - everything; I have not tried to capture video). It is as if there is no screen infomation being captured - although everything looks and behaves normally during the capture process.

(A) If it worked before and it doesn't work now, that tells us that maybe some new app or driver changes are updated on your PC. Does it happen right after you reboot? Or do you have another PC to try?

(Q1) It is zonealarm extreme attempting to stop keyloggers and malware that grabs screenshots. I tried changing the settings, but it still blocked you. I turned off zonealarm and your software works as usual. I hope this helps other customers.

(Q2) Thanks for your reply - it looks as though there may pehaps be a contention problem with andLinux, which I installed last week. I have just tried exiting from andLinux and then using ScreenHunter - and it worked. It also kept working after I restarted andLinux, incidentally. I'd have to do a couple more tests before reaching a final conclusion on this (and I will let you know when I have done the tests) but it looks as though ScreenHunter is basically still functional! :-)

(Q3) Thank you for emailing me back, my problem is solved. Somewhat different than expected. I had a problem with Outlook Express, every time I clicked reply Outlook Express would shut down, three times in a row, re-booted, same thing. Installed Spybot Search and Destroy, it found a Trojan on the computer after cutting it out everything including Screenhunter is working correctly, no more black captures. Everything works great, again thanks for a great program. 

(Q4) Thanks for the rapid response! I always use the F6 hotkey from standby mode, and never thought to try "Capture Now", but found that the latter does indeed capture the image properly. Knowing that the program was therefore not corrupted, I restored things to normal (on F6 again) by reassigning the hotkey to F5, and seeing that the capture worked properly there, I reassigned the hotkey back to F6.
All is working properly again.

I have been a long time registered user and Screen Hunter Pro keeps getting better now.
 
 I did run into one trouble when I did the in-place upgrade from v5.0.755 to v5.0.757, the automatic uninstall that ran first left the old uninstall item in the window's ... control panel ... add remove programs and it also added a new one. This got caught when the filehippo update
 checker ran and it list 2 installed versions v6.0.755 that had been upgraded (and filehippo update checker correctly marked it as needing updating and also the newest updated v6.0.755 which filehippo update checker correctly marked as current. It didn't matter which uninstall
 you ran it would uninstall the must current, and then when you tried to run the other one that was still there window's removed it from the add remove programs as it couldn't find anything to uninstall. So at this point I just deleted the screen hunter pro folder in the program folder
 rebooted and reinstalled. The program pulled all my custom settings and my serial key from where ever it keeps it and all was fine.

If you have clicked "Add to Startup" button on the "Advanced" tab, and you want to undo that, you can go to the program folder (press Window Key + E to run Windows Explorer), find the reset file, “Remove AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro from Startup.reg”, that comes with the package. It works the same way for ScreenHunter.

(Q) Is there a version of Screen Hunter Pro that automatically captures images from a DVR video file to a tiff file faster than 1 image per second, say 10 images per second? Today's machines are fast enough to accommodate that higher speed which can be used to capture DVR image files less loss of frames.

(A) Currently, ScreenHunter 5 Pro can take one capture per second, saving to TIFF files.

Alternatively, another product AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro can take a video of your screen, say 10 frames per second. Then, you can extract each frame to an image file. From AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro, you can use the video editor to extract to BMP files, which are lossless.

(Q) Your suggestions worked just fine. The DVR T263 formatted AVI file was screen captured by your Auto ScreenRecorded--when DirectX was turned off. The editor in Auto ScreenRecored did a fine job of decompiling the AVI file your software created when the DirectX hardware accelerator feature of the system was turned on.

Subsequently the decompiled bmp files were converted to tiff and our technology allowed excellent times 2, 4 and even 8 digital magnifications of the subsequent files. The times two and four were optical quality indicating that all the transfers from the original DVR were performed in an uncompressed fashion and our software worked as it should.

Q) Is there any way to select a colour in my image to use for
the flood fill as opposed to have to guess to match?
My issue is that I want to use a colour that is not in the image A but in another image B. I can select the colour in B but can't see how to save it/get the rgb so I can use this colour in A?

ScreenHunter Pro and use the "Color Picker" and press the "Pick on Screen"
button. To run the "Color Picker", either from the Tasks list on the main

Active window means the currently focused window. It needs to have the window with the focus. It can be the Taskbar if the Taskbar is currently selected window.

What you can do to run ScreenHunter without installing it is,
(1) Run the install pack on your normal PC.
(2) Go to the installed folder, say C:\Program Files\Wisdom-soft\ScreenHunter 5 Pro
(3) Copy all the files in that folder to your USB drive.
(4) When you insert the USB drive to another PC, run "ScreenHunter.exe" from the USB drive folder.

(Q) I just installed and registered Screenhunter 5.0 Plus (Windows XP SP3).
When in the Viewer, there is no icon in the toolbar for the editor (not grayed out, but really no icon), and double-clicking on an image also does not open the editor. 'Hide disabled buttons' is not checked.
Installation went smooth and all other functions are ok.

(A) Does AOL have a client email program, such as Outlook, that you can run from your Windows? Or, it has to run the browser to get to your email system? If AOL mail is only a web email system, like Gmail, Yahoo mail or etc, you need to attach your screenshots to an email manually. That is, after you saved your screenshot, go to your AOL email to create a new email. Then, attach the image file to this email before sending out.

In order to put captures to one big image, you can use the image editor in the Pro version to do so:

Say you want to use image A, B, C and D to make a large new image N.

(1) Create a new image, N, (white), and make it as large as you need to hold 4 images.
(2) Open all 4 image files to Viewer.

(3) Click image A in Viewer and click the "Copy" button on the Viewer toolbar.
(4) Double-click N in Viewer and show it in Editor
(5) Click the Paste button in Editor. That will paste image A in N. Rearrange the location of A in N. Click OK to return to Viewer.
(6) Repeat the steps of (3) to (5) for image B, C, D.
(7) Save N.

(Q) I just tried your screen hunter 5 I like it. I was wondering, can this program go directly to the printer? I would like to capture a photo and have it print right away.

I would to make one suggestion perhaps for a future upgrade: When I installed the product I was given the option to have the program automatically start up with Windows. I decided against this at the time but later decided that I would like that option. I checked the options page (including advanced options) but could find no way of setting the product to start with Windows.

     (1) Run the setup pack to install on your PC.

          then, copy all the files in this folder to your USB stick.

Now you can take the USB stick and just run "ScreenHunter.exe" from the stick.

(Q) I no longer get a sound when capture is complete, and yes, I have checked that box on advanced settings.  Any ideas?

(A) ScreenHunter basically does not control the sound card or speakers, and it only runs a sound file (WAV) to make the click sound. There's nothing to do with the license key and re-installing will not make a difference.
Please make sure your "Wave" is not muted in your Speaker Volume Control.
