(Q) - Question
(A) - Answer |
 |
|
1. Why is my mouse flashing when
recording?
(A) It might be the PC power is not desirable. If you have a powerful PC,
please use the powerful one.
This might also be caused by hardware acceleration. Hardware acceleration
can be disabled by Right-clicking on your Desktop and choosing "Properties":
Settings> Advanced> Troubleshooting, and then sliding the Hardware
Acceleration slider to the left (None).

2. How to change a Hotkey?
(Q) I tried looking around the application, and couldn't find how to change
the F6 key, which is the default, to something else. I need F6 for other

3. How do I switch off that
AutoScreenRecorder is starting with Windows startup?
((Q) How do I switch off that AutoScreenRecorder is starting with
Windows startup?
I can only switch it on, but not off. I do not see an icon in the
'Startup' group.
[Trial version 3.1.337; Windows XP-SP2]
-----------------------
(A) You can click to run a reset file, "Remove AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro
from Startup.reg", comes with the package. Here is more,
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/kb/faq_asr.htm#startup
So does it work the same way for ScreenHunter.

4. Cannot set "Pause Recording"
hotkey?
(Q) I can't set a hot key on my new registered software- see the
attached picture.
("Pause Recording" hotkey cannot be set or registered.)
It will not accept ANY combination. I really don't need a hotkey, but I
wish it would not pop up everytime I start a recording....
--------------------------------
(A) Thank you for writing to us. However, we're not able to re-create
the error.
Here are a couple of points may help you,
(1) Please make sure there is only one
AutoScreenRecorder running on your PC (one wheel icon in your Windows System
Tray in the lower bottom corner).
(2) Click the button beside "Pause/Resume" and select "Alt" & "Ctrl" and "Print
Screen" key from the list.
--------------------------------

5. How to change the file format?
(Q) I'm a new user.
I want to know how to change the file format to name the files like
this:
File- 2009-01-30-001.avi
File- 2009-01-30-002.avi
File- 2009-01-30-003.avi
File- 2009-01-30-004.avi
and not
File-001 2009-01-30.avi
File-002 2009-01-30.avi
File-003 2009-01-30.avi
File-004 2009-01-30.avi
---------------------------
(A) You can change the sequence by changing the order (top right

6. Recording size limit of 2GB?
(Q) I notice that there is a maximum recording size limit of 2GB in your
product 'AutoScreenRecorder Free'.
1. Is there an option in this product to
increase the recording size?
2. If not (1), Would I be able to use this product to record more, for
example, record in 2gb, stop then record 2gb etc.... Is there some sort
of setting?
3. If not (1) then would the paid version of 'AutoScreenRecorder' have
the soultion to the problems listed above.
----------------
(A) AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro supports recording to multiple 2G AVI
files.
You can also reduce the frame rate to make your
normal recording longer (Eg, frame rate at 15 means you need to save 15 images
per second. You might only need 8 or slower recording say 2 per minute, not per
second). In addition, check out some nice codec such as free Xvid. It creates a
small AVI file that can record for a long time before reaching 2G.

for more info on the AutoScreenRecorder FAQ page.

7. Convert an AVI to FLV file?
(Q) I have purchased your Autoscreenrecorder 3.0 pro and to be honest I
like it. The only problem I have with it, is that it doesn't seem to
output to .flv. Which I need for streaming some demonstration vid clips.
So my question for you is; can I configure the application to out put in
.flv or do you provide a different application with this functionality?
-----------------------
(A) AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro will make .AVI and .SWF file. You can use
free converter on the market to convert an AVI to FLV file.
Here is
a link to download DVDVideoSoft's free converter.
|
|
8. Convert to a WMV file?
(Q) Can Auto Screen Recorder record in windows media format? I
downloaded the trial version, but I don’t see that as one of the codecs.
------------------
(A) AutoScreenRecorder will record your screen and save to a standard
video file, .AVI.
Here is more.
You can use
Free converter from Microsoft to convert to a WMV file. Or, you may
use free Movie Maker from Microsoft that comes with your OS.

9. AutoScreenRecorder records a BLACK

(Q) I have just downloaded and tried Auto Screen Recorder 3.0 Pro,and It

game program.
I have Windows Vista, and can not find a Screen Capture Program that
will capture the screen when I open the game program.
---------------------
(A) You can change some settings on your player, then record it using
AutoScreenRecorder.

10. Full list of Codecs to choose
from
(Q) I just purchased AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro and installed it. I am
unable to access a full list of Codecs to choose from. My list has only
4 options: Cinepak Codec by Radius, Intel Indeo® Video 4.5, Intel IYUV
codec, & Microsoft Video 1. Do you know what happened to the MPEG-4
Codecs that are shown on your website and in 3.0 pro purchased by others
in our office? Did something go wrong during the installation or is
there a way I can get these Codecs? Thanks for your time.
--------------------
(A) There is nothing wrong during the setup. Most codec are free to
download and install,
For Xvid,
http://www.xvid.org/Downloads.15.0.html
For Microsoft MPEG4:

(Q) I have installed 5.0 Pro but cannot enter my licence code anywhere.
The button under help that says "register" is greyed out and the screen

12. ffdshow Video Codec is smaller
than the original screen selection
(Q) When using Auto Screen Recorder, the playback AVI - ffdshow Video
Codec is smaller than the original screen selection. (About half the
size)
Can you tell me how I can select this option
with AutoScreenRecorder Pro?
------------------
(A) We tried ffdshow codec as you suggested and it seems working without
resizing. http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDshow_download.htm
When you play it back, please make sure the player
is not zoomed to 50% viewing. It should be 100%.

13. What about the
"temporal quality ratio"? And what setting is best?
(Q) What I'm referring to is in regards to "AutoScreenRecorder 2.1 Pro".
When I open the program and got to the "To" tab, at the top under "video
options", where it has a drop-down box that lists my available video
compressors and next to that is a radio button that enables me to choose
"compressor options".
Clicking on that enables me to configure the "Temporal Quality Ratio".
Currently this ratio is set at 0.75. I would assume that's the default
since I've never adjusted it. My question is what would happen if I did?
What does this option control?
-------------------------------
(A) This option is for the Compressor/Codec maker to set the video
quality. It usually defines how good the recording quality is. However,
some may not have impact on the real quality of the video. It's just a
standard requirement from Microsoft for Codec makers.
You may change and set to different value to
record the same thing and find an optimal value for your recording.

14. No Sound?
(Q) "Good Morning,
I'm testing AutoScreen Recorder 3.
The handling of video capture in different frames works perfect.
Great and easy to manipulate and record!
However there is absolutely no sound at all coming with the capture.
Where to adjust, how to solve.
Thanks in advance"
---------------------------
(A) AutoScreenRecorder 3 Pro supports sound recording either from your
mic or speakers, the Free version doesn't.
Check the "Sound" checkbox on the "From" tab, in the
"Add" group, and make sure to select what you want (mic or speakers) on the
Sound Recording Options dialog box.
If you want to record sound from the speakers,
please make sure your sound card supports something called "stereo mix" or "wave
out mix", and select that.
Here is a step-by-step guide on sound recording.
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/asr/asr_step.htm#sound
If you're using Vista, the sound card may work
differently on your new PC. Here is a guide on Vista sound,

15. Duplicated Hotkey?
(Q) "Before buying AutoScreenRecorder 3.1 Pro I installed
AutoScreenRecorder Free on my computer.
Now I get the error message:
"Duplicate hotkeys found. Please make sure there are no duplicate
hotkeys."
I need a step-by-step advise how to get rid of "duplicate hotkeys".
Thanks a lot for your help."
---------------------------
(A)
That message means this
some hotkeys are the same or are used by another AutoScreenRecorder or
ScreenHunter.
Please make sure there is only one AutoScreenRecorder running. If it is
already running, you can Exit one. To check. To Exit means you actually
close out the application. To do that, click the "Exit" link in the
"Tools" group on the main window. Clicking the top right "x" button on
the title bar will not close out the application, that only sets it to
the "Stand By" mode.
Please look at your System Tray to see the icons,
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/kb/faq_sh.htm#tray
If you don't want to end that program, you might want to choose another
hotkey? Just click the hotkey button to change.
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/kb/faq_sh.htm#hotkey
If you don't find in the System Tray, you may
run Windows "Task Manager" (right-click on your Windows Task Bar to
run). Then, on the "Processes" tab, find "Image Name"
"AutoScreenRecorder" and press the "End Process" button. Alternatively,
you can reboot the PC to ensure only one AutoScreenRecorder is running.
Also, you may want to check "ScreenZoom" line which will set two hotkeys
for ScreenZoom.

16. Play back too fast?
(Q) "I record one minute of Alfred Hitchcock and it plays in about 15
seconds.
It's not playing at a walking pace - it's flying:
Recording from HULU.com The Cisco Kid Microsoft Codec 30 FPS
12 fps and it's choppy but it still flys.
Suggestions please. "
---------------------------
(A) You may take a look at these,
(1) How is the recording screen size and play back screen size?
The full screen recording may be too big for the PC you worked on. You
can use "Rectangular area" to select the movie window area only, that's
way small than the full screen.
http://www.wisdom-soft.com/kb/faq_asr.htm#sound_choppy
(2) You may try to set the frame rate to 15. It would be sufficient for
the most cases.
(3) Another point is to select "MCI recording" on the
"AutoScreenRecorder Sound Recording Options" dialog.
---------------------------
(Q) "Yes improved
I was recording the full screen, now reduced screen size
used 18fps - Happy with that
Thanx!"

17. "RECORDING COMPLETED" right
away?
(Q) When I press "record now" I immediately get a message "RECORDING
COMPLETED". Nothing was recorded.
I get the same message when I use the "standby" and the hot key to start
the recording. The message includes the file name and location. I have
tried the free version and the "try" on the Pro version but I get the
same message. Could you please help. I am using Windows XP.
---------------------------
(A) A few quick steps to trouble shoot,
(1) In the "Record What" group (on the "From"/main tab), make sure not
to choose "Active window" or "Specific window", in case there's no such
window. Choose "Rectangular area" or "Fixed area" to start with.
(2) Make sure "Use timer" is not checked. No timer is set.
(3) On the "To" tab, choose Codec "Microsoft Video 1" to start with.
(4) On the "To" tab, click the folder and Temp folder button, to change
them both to an easy one first, say c:\. (Make sure you have access
rights to those and enough space.)
